POST 8 : English Language Challenges

The english language has always been in my life, from learning the simplest things, to the most complicated things. During my childhood it was very difficult for me to learn how to read and write in Spanish, because of my severe dislexia, and english has always been a grear challenge for me. To learn everytime a little bit more of a new language is something enriching for me. Despite this different challenges I've had with English, I find it to be a very useful and practical language, where no matter what country you're in, by speaking english I can open myself to a world of possibilities, to learn, acquired knowledge and communicate with the rest . I likes this class because it gave me an opportunity to improve and overcome my difficulties and to know my favourite artists, to know more about their lives because many of them speak English. It's very exciting for me to understand then when they upload their content in English in their digital platforms. In University, I fi...

POST 7: Changes to your Study Program

I study Plastic Arts in Universidad de Chile. In order to enter into this degree I had to do the basic cycle while I was in highschool. The basic cycle lasts four semesters y the degree lasts eight semesters plus one year for the thesis. When I got into this degree I realized that many of the classes I had on the basic cycle were repeated here. Like color, volume, even with the same teachers I had or sometimes the same assignments. I would like that to change, that the University validates these classes. By being in this degree, I also realized that the infrastructure in the Faculty is very poor. There aren't adequate spaces to work on and to learn comfortably. There are no resources specialized to the courses we have, for example for the painting class we didn't have good lighting, the floors were broken, there weren't enough easels or chairs available for all of the students to work comfortably. As far as methodologies in teaching goes, I would like that in the practical ...

POST 5 : MY FUTURE JOB

Image
I’ve spent almost all my life studying art. At this very moment I’m finishing a degree in Plastic Arts in the University of Chile. This year I finish the program and next year I will graduate with a thesis in which I’m working since the late two thousand nineteen. After graduating, I would like to take a post graduate degree in an European country such as Italy or Spain. I wonder that that will be an opportunity to have many exciting and interesting experiences. For four years I’ve been in the Bucci Gallery.   I’m the first young artist to be in this gallery. I’m constantly working, and they create proposals and artistic projects that open new possibilities to exhibit and make my work visible. In the future I want to exhibit abroad y become known in other countries because of my artworks and work methodology in which I address different art disciplines. At the same time, I’d like to be an art professor in the University of Chile and be able to transmit the students the passi...

post 4 : A person I would like to meet

Image
Ricardo Celma He is a plastic artist and a national painting teacher.  He has been able to exhibit his work worldwide. In Peru, Mexico, Panama and the Netherlands. He has done many expositions, collective as much as individual and his work has been recognized with many awards and honors.  I admire him deeply and I contacted him through his email.  I was talking with him for quite some time. He asked me if I could send him some of my work, which I did because I want to learn from him, as I see him as a mentor. To get to know him as an artist and learn from him was one of my desires. He told me to coordinate dates and that he would invite me as an artist to meet his workshop.  I remember that my stepfather gave me as a Christmas gift (in the year 2019) tickets to go with my mom to Buenos Aires so that I could meet Ricardo in May 2020. I was so excited that I could not believe that my dream, since I met him on Instagram, was coming true. Unfortunately, due t...

Post 3 - A day to remember

Image
I have always been a pretty determined person. Nothing has come easy to me, but with my determination I achieve my goals. And I remember this day as an important day where work, effort and determination paid off.  I sent my portfolio with my work to the Bucci Gallery and got no answer. I really wanted to get into this gallery and I spent my time and insisted and kept sending my work and got no answer back.  Until one day they answered by email telling me that they were not interested. I could NOT take no for an answer. Atl least, I thought, I wanted to know the reason for this answer.  And so I got the director from the academy's number, Ennio Bucci. I armed myself with courage and phoned him. I remember telling him "I'm Maura Yazpad, I am an artist and a student at Universidad de Chile. I have dedicated my life to this and I am great at what I do. I want to be in your gallery".  He told me to send him my work, so I instantly sent him one of my most re...

BEST CONCERT EVER

Image
I remember as if it were yesterday, I was accompanied by my mother. There was a lot of noises in that place full of people, people of different nationalities, of different cultures, everyone was waiting for this singer to come out. It was Miguel Bose, one of my favorite artists.   The most incredible thing about this concert was that, when my mother bought the tickets for the concert, she was able to buy 2 VIP tickets, it was very special for me. I was speechless knowing that I was going to be able to be closer to this incredible artist and be able to fully enjoy his concert.   Something super curious happened to me in this concert, I realized that how one hears the version of the song on the radio or on digital media is very different than how one hears it the live version seeing the artist only a few meters away, it was unbelievable.   I realized that in a concert like this, not only one listens to the song live and direct but also lives it.   When the song ´´Moren...

The country that is recognized for its art, its gastronomy and its culture, yes, Italy.   I would like to visit Italy, because I love so much the beautiful architecture that is in those spaces, the infrastructure, from the museums with those similar structures during ancient Rome.   And how not to fall in love with his art, considering that Italy has some of the best painters in the world: Leonardo Da Vinci, Miguel-Angel ... `` The Mona Lisa, the Last Supper '' are recognized works of art that pay tribute to Leonardo Da Vinci as an Italian artist.   If there is something that I would try from the first day, it would be those Italian pizzas and their cheeses…   because Italy is considered one of the countries with the greatest variety of cheeses possible, I love them so much.   There are many job opportunities there, considering that I am a plastic artist, I would like to go there to visit these beautiful places, enjoy their meals and according to what I ...
